Design-Build
The distinctive feature of a design-build project is that the client contracts with a single entity to provide the entire project, from preliminary planning through design and then construction.
Superior Design-Build will act as the designer and Construction Manager and subcontract the construction to the necessary trade subcontractors. It should be noted that we have extensive in-house engineering expertise (through Superior Engineering) which reduces the need to award outside design contracts.
When compared with the traditional or construction management methods of organizing a construction project, design-build offers certain advantages.
As with a construction management project, but unlike a traditional project, it is possible to fast-track a design-build job. That is, Superior Design-Build can award construction contracts for early phases of the work before the final working drawings have been completed for subsequent phases. Yet, unlike a construction management project, design-build offers a client a sole source of responsibility and authority on the project.
Design-Build also offers owners the opportunity to contract with a single source of specialized design and construction services. For this reason, design-build is common on complex, engineered construction projects such as industrial facilities and utility plants. Design-build also affords the client more financial security or more competitive project insurance rates or coverages than would otherwise be available.
