Instrumentation & Design Engineer
Job Description:
Selected candidate will be responsible to provide the technical expertise and support necessary for the development, design implementation of instrumentation, control, and automation systems, to improve efficiency and reliability and upgrade safety standards as it relates to client specifications. Responsibilities include DCS configuration and PLC programming, developing functional control logic, layout and configuration. Design responsibilities include developing P&IDs, instrumentation application and selection, control valve sizing and material selection, preparation of detail design drawings and field packages, specification development, bid evaluations, participating in design and safety reviews, and assisting with checkout and startup of systems. Minimum of 5 years refinery experience with a BSEE or BSME preferred or a minimum of BSEET or BSMET. A PE license would be an added plus.
Core Requirements:
- Experience taking projects from conception through commissioning and startup is required.
- Design of the instrumentation and control systems, and prepare the capital estimate for investment projects.
- Experience with process instrumentation, including transmitters, switches, valves, and motors is required.
- Experience with development of P&IDs, SAMA diagrams, binary logic diagrams, loop sheets, motor elements, MCC and Power Distribution system experience is preferred.
- The ability to devise new approaches to provide solutions to client problems.
- Develop plan specifications and inspection reports as needed.
- Maintain project documentation.
- Perform project site observations inclusive of observing segments of existing conditions, design and construction as required.
- Research national and local codes as they might apply to municipalities or industry regulations to ensure proper applications
