Our History
When Superior Engineering (S/E) was established on May 7, 1962, the founders focused their efforts on meeting the needs of Northwest Indiana’s manufacturing base. In concert with the tremendous growth of the local steel mills and other industries, S/E grew with them every step of the way.
Since the beginning, Superior Engineering has grown from a staff of 3 to over 100, with expertise in mechanical, electrical, civil & structural engineering, instrumentation and controls, process design, and project management. We have locations in Hammond, IN, Bolingbrook, IL, and Middleburg Heights, OH. We also hold professional engineering licenses in 26 states across the country.
While our founders had their start in steel, over the years, Superior Engineering has expanded our reach to include projects for refineries, chemical plants, utilities, food processing, pharmaceuticals, as well as governmental and institutional entities.
As markets evolve and new technologies emerge, Superior Engineering is well-positioned to offer the latest advances to our clients. We continue to provide Excellence by Design.

Our Manufacturing Partner
Owned by the same parent company, SEMAC specializes in the design, manufacture and implementation of industrial machinery for steel, aluminum and other heavy industries. From custom machinery to existing machinery upgrades, they provide innovative, cost-saving solutions to the most challenging projects.
