Long planned for a much-needed upgrade, a multi-national food company required an upgrade to an essential packaging line. However, higher cost estimates to install the packaging line precluded moving forward. Superior Engineering (S/E) was asked to dive-in and look for creative ways to reduce costs. We found that significant costs were associated with the dynamic and harmonic loading generated by their Rotex Separator. In addition, space limitations were also impacting the efficient layout of equipment.
S/E solved these challenges utilizing dynamic analysis of their line, coupled with 3D scanning & modeling. We then generated a custom engineered solution optimized to their environment, and focused on reducing design costs - bringing this project in well under budget.
In addition to the new Rotex Separator, S/E was able to include several other upgrades to the facility. These included a new elevated platform along with monorail systems, conveyor supports and structural modifications. S/E’s comprehensive design package included:
- Electrical design and sizing of the wiring and conduit for new equipment.
- Equipment and piping plans, sections, and elevation drawings necessary to install the equipment.
- Specifications for dust control ductwork and chute transitions.
