A major fuel distributor was planning to replace the existing low voltage Motor Control Center (MCC) and distribution equipment at their terminal due to age and failure concerns. Superior Engineering (S/E) was asked to define the scope and provide detailed engineering for the project. The scope consisted of replacing the existing Motor Control Center (MCC01) and related power distribution equipment, installing a new MCC complete with foundation, new underground duct banks - encased in concrete, and electrical panel boards. S/E provided all engineering services for the Detailed Engineering Phase which included:
- A general layout for the best location of the new MCC.
- Updated existing single line drawings.
- New conduit routing plan drawing showing both the underground and above ground runs including:
- New underground electrical raceway/conduit system that ran power from the local utility company to a properly sized and designed MCC.
- New conductors for the underground conduit system that ran power from the service entrance to the new MCC and from the MCC to various electrical loads/feeds in the facility.
- New electrical equipment ground and facility ground loop for newly installed equipment.
- Construction Scope of Work package including:
- Conduit and Cable Schedule
- Bill of Material (BOM)
- Annotated Demo Photos
- Disposal Criteria for Demolished Equipment
- Distribution Panel Schedule
- Design and specification of the new MCC and associated equipment.
