In certain circumstances, conventional engineering is not capable of providing the necessary calculations to simulate actual stress conditions. When an international petrochemical and polymer manufacturer required a thorough analysis of a key pressure vessel for safety concerns, Superior Engineering (S/E) was able to provide a comprehensive and reliable solution.
Due to the complex geometry of their vessel, computer simulation and finite element analysis techniques were required. The project scope included analyzing dead and live load combinations, including seismic wind and internal pressure calculations. These data were then used to evaluate tubular support connections and structural loading, highlighting any aspects that were not within ASME Section VIII code compliance.
Utilizing our expertise, experience and design software, S/E was able to provide the client with a formal analysis of relevant stresses compared to ASME standards. The final report was sealed by a Professional Engineer, working to the highest engineering standards. With the detailed calculations provided, the client was able to properly complete vessel certification requirements, while ensuring safe and efficient operations for their facility.
