Superior Engineering (S/E) completed the conversion of an existing hot water generating plant for a large university in the Midwest. This plant and its related equipment supplied hot water for housing facilities that support the on-campus student population.
S/E performed the design and installation engineering, enabling the University to upgrade both the potable water system and the hot water generation plant. The upgrade included removal and demolition of two old gas-fired storage water heaters, replacing those with a single condensing water heater and adding a 500-gallon storage tank.
S/E created demolition, piping, and equipment arrangement drawings as well detailed installation drawings, complete with piping isometrics.
Probable cost estimates were also prepared prior to executing and awarding the construction contracts. The estimates were used to manage the TIC and trend the estimates to budget constraints.
