Superior Engineering (S/E) was commissioned to prepare underground utility relocation and foundation design drawings for the installation of two walking beam reheat furnaces and their associated equipment. The scope included foundation design for the furnaces, recuperators, stacks, a new mill building and mill building extension, new charge and discharge tables, and new charge pulpit.
The design approach incorporated the innovative use of piles to avoid the risky and costly relocation of existing underground water piping. A well-coordinated team effort between the customer, geotechnical consultant, equipment suppliers, and S/E was a critical element that delivered quality project deliverables on time and under budget to a highly satisfied client.
S/E provided project management and foundation/steel demo design.
